Honor a civil rights pioneer and the first African American woman known to have argued a case before the United States Supreme Court
with the new Constance Baker Motley stamp from the U.S. Postal Service.
The 47th stamp in the Black Heritage series depicts a portrait of Motley by Charly Palmer rendered in acrylic on canvas. The stenciled
circular shapes around her head suggest royalty, and the heavy brushstrokes and scratches provide added textures.
